The 14th annual "Wrecks" symposium
Saturday April 1, 2006
To Be Held at
Route 9, Natick, Mass.
The MetroWest Dive Club is proud to announce the 14th annual "Wrecks" show. This year's theme is Passenger Vessels In Distress, and we have once again assembled a world-class line-up of speakers for this year's event
The presentations will cover a wide range of locales. We will hear about a wreck in our own backyard, with Dave Caldwell and Heather Knowles giving a presentation about the S.S. Romance. Tom Rutledge and Dan MacKay will give a presentation the paddlewheelers of old that used to plow the turbulent Great Lakes waters. Gary Kulisek will give us a fresh look at the history of the Empress of Ireland, both above and below the waters of St.Lawrence river. And to top it all off Tom Wilson and Vlada Dekina will share with us some of their amazing wreck photography skills and techniques.
The format of this upcoming Wrecks show will change slightly from years past. After receiving numerous suggestions from our attendees, we're pleased to announce that during the intermissions between the feature presentations we plan to also offer several "mini-presentations" that will be held throughout the exhibition hall. While not yet finalized, the topics of these presentations would range from equipment, to photography, to artifact preservation. As the date of the show gets closer, keep an eye on this website and we will be sure to update you with more details.
In addition, Wrecks will feature a unique Equipment display - something that you will not see at any other dive show; a fascinating Artifact display; and a Photo display.
The main floor will host a number of dive industry exhibitors, and be sure
to stop by the MetroWest Dive Club's Raffle table for a chance to win a dive
in New England Aquarium's Giant Ocean Tank, dive gear, charters, and
numerous other prizes generously donated by friends and sponsors of the
show.
